About the FLO Lunch

The Chapter's annual Frederick Law Olmsted Luncheon will be held during our conference at Greystone, overlooking Lake Clara Meer at Piedmont Park. The FLO Luncheon is traditionally one of the chapter's most popular gatherings, and we are pleased to be able to share it with our neighboring chapters in 2011.

Because of the extraordinary financial support of our Sponsors, tickets to the Frederick Law Olmsted Luncheon at Greystone are now complimentary with a Regular Conference Registration! Those of you that registered for this event before April 13 may expect a refund of the $25 ticket price very soon.

About Greystone at Piedmont Park

Named for its original granite walls, Greystone boasts 9,000 square feet of event space and sits across from Piedmont Park's historic Active Oval. Built in 1926, Greystone was formally known as Piedmont Park's historic bathhouse, which served as a changing room for park visitors before spending the day swimming in Lake Clara Meer. In 2009, the bathhouse was transformed from a practical locker room into an elegant waterfront venue.

Keynote

Spencer Tunnell, II will speak on Matters of the Soul: A Personal View of Landscape Architecture. In his talk, he will discuss his experiences with landscape restorations and their deeper meaning for our contemporary lives.

Mr. Tunnel led the restoration of Philip Shutze's Boxwood Garden at the Swan House in 1995, on behalf of the Atlanta History Center. He has been the landscape architect for the Olmsted Linear Park Alliance since 1998. He has been intimately involved in the rehabilitation of Olmsted Park in Druid Hills. Mr. Tunnel is currently working on the restoration of the Goodrum House for the Watson-Brown Foundation.
